The Alaska Cat Café began as the dream of a determined teenager with a love for cats and a heart for community. At just 16 years old, Tahlya graduated high school a year early. As class president and a lead organizer for her school’s prom and events, she had already proven herself a driven leader. When asked what she wanted to do next, Tahlya followed her lifelong passion: helping animals—especially cats.

When she shared her vision of opening a cat café, her father saw an opportunity—not only to support her dream but also to teach her the value of entrepreneurship and giving back. A year later, in the heart of Wasilla, Alaska, The Alaska Cat Café was born.

The café operates as a for-profit business with a powerful mission: 100% of its profits go directly to funding our nonprofit, The Cat Cottage, which rescues, shelters, feeds, and provides medical care to abandoned, stray, and surrendered cats in the Mat-Su Valley.
